So this weekend was a failure on the diet but a success in the training department. The diet was rough due to a project at work and having to work all weekend. We didnt get a chance to eat healthy (my fault for not being prepared). I did get to run friday, saturday and sunday. Overall i feel pretty good w/ some nice soreness in my quads. I am trying to follow the evolution running but I just dont think i am good enough to even really start that. here is what I was able to get done w/ this weekend:
Friday: Ran for 30 minutes total and this included running and walking. I only walked to let my calves and shins catch up.
Saturday: Ran for 40 minutes which included running and walking w/ less walking today.
Sunday:Strength Training: chestCycling:Rode the bike to the gym and back which is about 6.4 miles. Rode the stationary bike for 30 minutes w/ interval training at 3 minutes after initial 10 min warmup. Went 8 miles total.Swam:Swam a 1/4 mile (100m x1, 25x9, 100m x 1)

Diet and Nutrition
I am currently trying the best I can to stick to a diet that my buddy created for me. His name is Steve and is a RN and an ex bodybuilder. I have added in some pre and post workout carbs to keep my energy levels up but this is what I am trying to follow. I overindulge sometimes but I have kept it at a minimum lately. Probably my biggest problem is staying away from bbq sauce and tobasco sauce. I usually put these on any kind of meat I get.

Training up to this point
I just want to highlight my training so far and some of the struggles that I have had. Currently I just have a Diamondback Sorrento hardtail mountain back. I will say that riding it over long distances is very trying and is one heck of a workout. I have a pair of under armour running shoes that I bought thinking they would help me run. I do not own a pair of trunks or any items for swimming. Needless to say I am preparing for the poor mans triathlon. I am the only one that works and money is something that isn’t easy to come by in my house.
I ride my mountain bike outside everyday for 6-8 miles if the weather allows for it. I try to run 3 or 4 days a week. I am not sure on the mileage but I run/walk for 30 minutes at a time roughly. I am working in the pool 2 or 3 days a week and right now I am really trying to focus on form. It is not easy as without a pair of goggles my eyes burn and I look like a burnt out hippie lost from wood stock.. Swimming is surprisingly more difficult than I thought although I think I am making decent progress so far. I just bought a pair of the Speedo Vanquisher 2.0 mirrored goggles so I think they will help out tremendously.

Introduction - History of the Mett
I would like to first introduce myself and give a little history on me. My name is Mark and I currently live in Dublin, Ohio (near Columbus). I am 29 years old, married and have a daughter that is 16 months old. I start grad school in a month or so for my Master’s in Computer Science. I played soccer up through high school and up to that point it was not an issue to run up to 12 miles as I trained w/ the track and cross country teams. I was always a strong sprinter and when I did run in track I did the 800m. I am a competitive person and I always have been.
At this point I am a Clydesdale in the fullest. I am 6’5” and 270 lbs. When I decided to get back in to running and biking I was at an all time high of 289 lbs. This is large even with my bigger frame. I decided on a triathlon as an endurance sport truly is a test and it is also something I can work on alone and compete at. I may not make it as a pro or even ran but I do want to complete an Iron Man.
